Help! I look like a zombie!!!
A bad sunburn is not only a painful reminder of too much sun, but a sunburn can also cause skin peeling as the top layer of damaged skin is removed. How many of you love the appearence of your skin after applying your liquid foundation? If you are anything like me, you stare at yourself in the mirror wondering if you can get a role as a zombie on, “The Walking Dead” television show.
Here is a at home remedy you can use to help rid yourself of this flaky mess:
Apply aloe vera gel to your sunburned face several times daily. Aloe vera helps promote healing of damaged skin while soothing itchiness and pain due to sunburn. The gel also introduces moisture to the skin, helping prevent or eliminate skin peeling as the skin dries.
Add a cup of oatmeal to a washcloth and tie the ends to keep the oatmeal from dripping out. Soak the washcloth in a cupful of lukewarm water and wash your face with the oatmeal-filled cloth. This will add moisture to the skin while soothing itching from flaking.
Eat plenty of protein-rich foods such as lean meats, poultry and beans. Protein helps heal the skin from the inside out by providing the necessary elements for collagen fiber production and skin cell regeneration. Healing the skin quickly will eliminate peeling and allow for fresh new skin to form.
Apply a thin layer of honey to your face and leave it on for five to 10 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry. Honey coats the skin and provides itch relief while helping to remove peeling skin by adhering to the dead layers and removing them once it is rinsed from the skin.
*Always remember use sunblock.! If you are planning a fun filled day outdoors and swimming is involved, you must reapply your sunblock throughout the day!
